Betty was a wonderful person to work with for the ten years I was employed at St. Paul's Lutheran. Being able to see her in the grocery store or on one of her walks downtown afforded other opportunities to reconnect and catch up. Betty had an amazing ability in the office to make tense situations and deadlines almost non-existent. She loved her work, her church and her family both immediate and extended. I know she will be missed not only myself, but by all for many years to come.

I have just received Betty’s obit and am so sorry to learn of her passing. During my winter stays in Savannah on Larkin Ave. I became friends with Betty. We regularly walked the pasture and Bonaventure Cemetery on weekends, always sharing stories and dreams about the pasture. She was a wonderful working partner, always so positive & optimistic as we built telephone post fences to protect the pasture’s west border, drove John Hutson’s tractor to remove tons of debris dumped near the crabbing hole, liberated & pruned that magnificent live oak that still proudly stands. I loved Betty Miles, appreciated her ethics, and respected her devotion to our neighborhood. When saw her last January, however, I knew something was terribly wrong. We acknowledged each other briefly, but then she quietly turned away - as if to say goodbye. When I later learned of Karlie’s tragic death, I realized the traumatic toll it had taken on Betty. I hope you are at peace now, my dear Betty Miles. You lived an exemplary life, and your goodness and kindness will always be remembered. Carol
